Informational about Montessori

Montessori Method:

Introduction: is a child education system reflection the "natural way" of a child's development.
Part 1: History
-Discovered by Maria Montessori in 1990. She was one of the first women to graduate from medical school.
- She first started working with mentally disabled children
- The whole science being her work was to let the child grasp information on their own
- By letting the child grasp information on their on, she would set up a series of excercises for the child and would label it "work" for the child
- The exercises were conducted of senses, imagination, and hand eye coronation. She would also work with the children in a peaceful environment
- After time the children's intelligence was tested. There level had raised up to a "normal" child's, it was then she proceeded to take her new theory and apply it to all children
-In 1906 she worked with children in poverty. Maria then discovered that all children had the same level of curiosity and imagination.
- Ways she would work with children were by using sensory puzzles, blocks, and other hands on toys. She would engage in the activities and realized that kids tend to learn or experience something and would repeat it.
-Soon after parents were interested in the Montessori ways of teaching, so Maria wrote many books on her new found theory
Part 2: Categories
- The Montessori has broken its learning techniques into different categories: cultural subjects, language, mathematics, sensorial, and practical life.
-The idea is to expand on these materials, it helps the child organize their problem solving and thinking
Part3: Promoting learning through curiosity
- For a child their "play" is actually work. The theory indicates that a child will experience a new tool and repeat it.
- Multi age groups are within the Montessori system. Depending on the child's age, they have different out comes to how they learn. For example (0-6) is based upon sensory. At a daycare they might have a sink for the child to wash dishes, with playing in the water the child develops hand eye coronation
-Another way that the child will learn something is putting his or her coat on, or watering plants, basically something that an adult might think is "small", can be an important step in the child's natural development, by engaging in hands on activities it stimulates the child's senses
- The teachers role is very important as well. Rather than being in front of a class room and teaching, the teacher will engage in activities, with the child one on one or in small groups. Their job is to observe and their natural instincts
- "Toys" the children will be given are globes, musical instruments, arts and crafts. Usually the toys will be an object that the child has to interact with to learn. In most Montessori's schools battery operated toys are not found.

My thoughts: I believe I have enough information about this system. The challenge will be to narrow down the most important facts that will paint a clear portrait of this theory. Also how can I show the viewer visual examples of this theory.
